ah-HA!

TOday I finally found something I’m allergic to, something that actually gave me hives in a place I can definitely identify with a product!!

This afternoon: I’m in the shower and I’m thinking about how my ayervedic research has led me to not want to wash my arms and legs all the time with soap b/c it’s good to keep the natural oils, blah, blah, blah. I do, however, wash everything else.

Later this afternoon: I’m sitting in Barnes and Noble, writing, and my, er, back end starts to itch in a place I’m really not comfortable scratching! Yep, an itchy ass I can’t scratch. Clean, but itchy.

This evening: I get home and take stock: without getting too personal, lol a little late, right — there are hives where the sun don’t shine!! And there’s only ONE thing I can blame: Nivea Touch of Serenity Moisturizing Body Wash.

So, there it is then. I don’t know if it’s the Sodium Laureth Sulfate, the Cocamidopropyl Betaine, or the Glyceryl Glucoside. Perhaps it’s the PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil. My God, what about this is “caring and calming” like it says on the label? There are 17 ingredients and I’m familiar with exactly one: water.

Oh well, at least I have something to work with…I’ve been avoiding so many foods, changed my laundry detergent, given up alcohol (well, sort of)…but I never thought about the moisturizing body wash. Who would have?
